Eucharist

Holy Communion

Holy Communion is one of the three Sacraments of Initiation. Eucharist means thanksgiving. We believe Christ’s body and blood are truly present in the consecrated host and wine. With profound thanksgiving, we consume the Body and Blood of Christ and remember the sacrifice He made for our sins. The Eucharist nourishes us spiritually, providing food for our faith journey.

For as often as you eat this bread and drink the cup, you proclaim the death of the Lord until he comes.
(1 Corinthians 11:26)

NDV prepares children to receive their First Holy Communion, an important step in their faith development. First Eucharist allows children to participate more fully in the family of the Church by sharing communion with the rest of our faith community. For more information on preparation for First Eucharist, contact our director of faith formation, Dr. Carrie Schroeder at schroeder@ndvsf.org

Jesus said: "I am the living bread that came down from heaven; if any one eats of this bread, he will live forever; ...he who eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life and ... abides in me, and I in him."
(John 6:51, 54, 56)
